Entry for October 11, 2006

Whisper and I attended our second agility trail on October 7 - 8, 2006. It was a NADAC trial hosted by Kruisin' Kanines in PA.

On Saturday, we had two runs, one in novice weavers and the other in novice jumpers. Weavers is comprised of two sets of weaves, one set of 12 and one set of 6 and tunnels. Whisper is weaving 6 beautifully and so-so on 12 weaves. I entered for the heck of it. The good news is that she did 12 poles nicely but I made some handling mistakes and it shut her down so she did not want to weave after that. Needless to say, we crashed and burned. But she was happily weaving on the practice weaves around other people and dogs, so I'm not worried.

Our second run on Saturday was Novice Jumpers. Since Whisper qualified two times in our first trial, if we qualified, we would be eligible to move up to the next class, Open Jumpers the next day. The course was straight forward but there was one trickly section. Our run was beautiful. I think it was the first time I handled without any bobbles. I knew we had qualified but was not sure about placement. We ended up with a qualification and a 4th place finish!! Congratulations Whispy!

Sunday was a beautiful day with clear skies. We had two runs scheduled for Sunday, Novice Tunnelers and Open Jumpers. Whisper and I got 3rd place in Tunnelers and a qualifying score. We did not qualify in Open Jumpers but we did place 3rd in our class.

What a fantastic weekend. I couldn't be happier with our performance. I'm even more addicted to agility than ever. As you can see from the photo above, Whisper is pretty proud of her accomplishments too.

Stay tuned for more entries about what Whisper and I are doing in training and trialing.
